SUMMER DREAMING by Susan Oomen
Daydreaming is an escape, and daydreams are the stuff of paintings. These paintings represent idyllic places to sit and contemplate, but they also represent spaces where we visit with those dear to us. So I will soon sit with a dear friend, and we will talk of new routines, and we will share precious thoughts and discoveries. And with bigger groups of chairs, I will sit with family, and there will be laughter and gossiping, and the retelling of old family stories. Perhaps the older grandchildren will speak of how their lives changed, how they miss their friends, school, music lessons, hockey. And maybe a little one will tell of the naptime when she cut off all her hair, and another little one will talk of his longing to visit again and see planets in granddad’s telescope. These paintings are about hope, and the relationships that sustain and guide us. They represent precious times ahead.
