A personal message from Deborah Lougheed Sinclair regarding her most recent work:
“I long for an understanding of my indigenous roots. This personal journey and self discovery of my past reflected in an image of totems seen while travelling the pathways of my ancestors. Poles that once numbered in the hundreds facing Nass and Skeena rivers that figured prominently in the early Canadian fur trade. Phratry, spirituality, legend, and ceremony. Totems rising up to meet the sky firmly grounded in tradition and enduring grace. Connections to my heritage. Inspiration for my future.”
